About
The story behind Half the Load
Hi, I’m Jessica Gamper — founder of Half the Load, a recovering default parent, and for years the family’s operating system.
I knew the shoe sizes and the snack rules. I tracked the dentist appointments, the class WhatsApp, the gift for Saturday’s party, and whether we were almost out of toothpaste. None of it was hard on its own. All of it together was a hum that never switched off.
The advice I found didn’t help. Apps that became their own chore. Productivity systems built for offices, not for school runs. And underneath it all, the quiet message that I just needed to be more organized — as if the problem were me.
The problem was never you, either. You are not disorganized. You are carrying too much.
Then I started using AI differently — not as another shiny tool to learn, but as a place to put things. The meal plan I no longer write from scratch. The school emails I no longer triage by hand. The appointments I no longer keep alive in my memory. One task at a time, the hum got quieter.
Half the Load exists to walk you down that same path — in plain English, at a gentle pace, starting with just one thing.
— Jessica
How we work
Three things we believe.
Plain English, always
You shouldn’t need a glossary to get support. If an explanation needs jargon, it isn’t finished yet.
Less, not more
The goal is never a more impressive system. It’s fewer things living in your head by Friday.
Systems that forgive
Real weeks are messy. A good helper bends with the sick day and the schedule change — and keeps working.
Work with me
Two gentle ways to start.
I built Half the Load to help moms and default parents hand recurring household tasks to simple AI helpers — in plain English, one thing at a time. Here are the two gentlest places to start.
